Cranberry Sauce

Cranberries sauce has so many amazing phytonutrient compounds, feel free to indulge at the holidays and beyond.

Ingredients
  

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries 1 package or ~340 grams
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp orange zest about 2 oranges
  • 1 cup orange juice about 2-4 fresh oranges

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the cranberries in fresh water. Discard any that have become mushy.
  • Place the cranberries, honey, orange zest, and orange juice in a large soup pot on the stove over medium heat.
  • Cook uncovered at a gentle simmer, stirring frequently until most of the cranberries have popped, for 10-15 minutes.
  • Remove from the fire and allow the sauce to cool. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
  • Serve warm as an accompaniment for proteins or use as a jam.

Notes

Doubling this recipe is almost always a good idea, especially if serving more than 4-6 people or you want leftovers.
Storage Instructions:
This recipe stores well in the fridge. It can even be canned using a water bath method for shelf storage like most jams.
